This Relais & Châteaux hotel sits in 62 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens and parkland and is well-located for exploring the delights of Normandy. Embrace the calming rhythms of chateau life amid the lush setting of Château d’Audrieu. The ideal hideaway to escape the world, the château was originally built in the 11th century for William the Conqueror. Redesigned as a grand estate in 1715, today the property is listed as a Historic Monument, thoughtfully refurbished to celebrate its history and traditions.

The sympathetic blend of historic grandeur and contemporary comforts imbues the château with a sense of serenity which is both soothing and restorative. The wonderfully proportioned salons, grandiose windows, and elegant antique furniture, decorated in calming blues and ambers, achieve the perfect balance of tradition and modern convenience. While the warm and welcoming hospitality further contributes to the feeling of a home away from home.

The extensive grounds are a standout feature of the property. Stroll through the 12 acres of landscaped gardens, admiring the fragrant roses, the formal French garden, the pretty English garden, and the heady aroma of the vegetable garden. Or roam through the 50 acres of bewitching parkland, a place to shake off the stresses of everyday life and lose yourself in the therapeutic power of nature.

For children that want to have fun, there’s a dedicated play area and for those who enjoy a refreshing swim or relaxing float, there is a sparkling outdoor heated pool, nestled in the grounds. Guests can also indulge their relaxation and rejuvenation objectives in the spa by Sothys, which includes a fitness room.

As a Relais & Châteaux property, Château d’Audrieu offers exceptionally fine cuisine created from seasonal, local, and homegrown produce. Along with vegetables and herbs, the chateau’s bees also make deliciously healthy honey for guests, while the apples are harvested to brew organic cider. Whether you want to savour fine dining in Le Séran, light bites on Le Terrasse or enjoy the oak-panelled splendour of Le 1715 restaurant bar, your taste buds will never be disappointed. A particular pleasure is having the chef prepare you a Norman Picnic, which you can enjoy in a secluded spot in the grounds for a treat en plein air.

The classic elegance of the property is showcased in the rooms and suites. While Classic Rooms sleep two guests, opt for a Deluxe Room or Junior Suite for three people or a Suite, which sleeps up to four. Alternatively, snuggle into the natural world with a stay in the luxury Tree House, awakening to glorious scenic views, while still enjoying the finer things in life.

With acres of outside space, a playground, pool and babysitting service, children are welcomed at the chateau, making it a good choice for a family break. Just a 20-minute drive from Bayeux and a 30-minute drive from the Normandy Landing beaches, there is plenty of opportunity to discover more of Normandy and its history, should you wish to.
