Matthew Gammon
I first fell in love with Africa travelling overland through the Great Rift Valley and heading back to Tanzania to lead a university expedition. After this taste of adventure, I made the move to Southern Africa to set up and run a small tourism social enterprise.

This gave me the chance to explore the region on long weekends and holidays, and my passion for the people, wildlife, and landscapes of Africa grew.
I’m fortunate enough to have immersed myself in all sorts of experiences and encounters across Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Namibia and Madagascar. I’m an avid animal lover and my most memorable wildlife moments include giggling a little too loudly when a Mountain Gorilla cheekily gave my wife a nudge as he came bounding through, snorkelling with whale sharks off Mafia Island, approaching a leopard on horse-back, tracking rhino on foot, seeking out leaf-tailed geckos in Madagascar, and watching wild dogs in Mana Pools. I’m forever dreaming up the next adventure and am always keen to try new experiences in new regions."

If I had a magic carpet, I’d safari in Samburu, Kenya, before seeing the gorillas in Rwanda. Then canoeing along the Zambezi; followed by the remote wilds of Kunene; Namibia. To finish, it’d be the beach and wildlife in the rainforests of Madagascar.
