Good time to visit

Average time to visit

Weather-wise, the best times to go are spring and autumn, when temperatures are 20°C to 25°C by day and at least 10°C by night, and November to February, with cooler nights but similar daytime temperatures and light rainfall possible. The weather in March and April features sporadic, light rainfall with some sandstorms in April, while June sees dusty siroccos (desert winds) sweep through the city. From mid-June to August temperatures rise into the 30s and occasionally 40s.

Insider's View

This is a calm retreat in the heart of Marrakech - only moments from hustle and bustle of Jemaa El Fna- the main square.

Take a dip in either the rooftop or courtyard pools to cool down from the hot Moroccan sunshine.

This is the perfect mix between a traditional Riad and a hotel with great common spaces and an unbeatable location.

My favourite rooms here are the terrace suites – they’re not the biggest but having your own lounger overlooking the Koutoubia Mosque is hard to beat!

The private two-bedroom Riad is perfect for families or couples travelling together.

Request breakfast in your room, on the rooftop terrace or in one of the courtyards. The staff will go out of their way to please you.

This would be a really special place to stay over christmas and new year - with heated pools, large rooms and a great location this is the perfect winter retreat.

Description

Villa des Orangers is a 27-bedroom Relais & Chateaux property in the heart of the Medina, with the feel of a riad but the facilities of a 5-star hotel. Verdant gardens, three pools, a spa and two gastronomic restaurants are housed in Villa des Orangers.

The Villa des Orangers is a gorgeous boutique hotel located within a few minute's walk of the Djemma el-Fna. A long standing favourite, Villa des Orangers provides guests with an authentic Moroccan environment and luxury world class service.

The 27 individually-designed luxurious rooms and suites, many of which come with private terraces, are all carefully planned around the spaces they occupy. Some are duplex covering two floors of the riad and all have quirky individualistic features as well as international standards of comfort and facilities. For the ultimate in privacy, there is a two-bedroom riad with small pool.

The riad's gastronomic kitchen serves delicious French, Mediterranean and local cuisine which can be eaten wherever you like, highlights being breakfast on the roof terrace, lunch around the pool and dinner under the stars.

There is a variety of lounge areas and verdant patios, while the main sitting rooms have fireplaces as Marrakech can be chilly in the evenings. These are complemented by a large sun terrace which overlooks the High Atlas Mountains and the Koutoubia Mosque. Here there is a pool and an open bar where complimentary non-alcoholic drinks, refreshing mint tea and Moroccan pastries are served. A second heated swimming pool can be found in the garden. Villa des Orangers also has a boutique, cigar cellar, and a Moorish hammam offering a range of rejuvenating massage and beauty treatments.

My bathtub was spectacular! I loved the huge marble double sink and rainfall shower head. There was also really wonderful amount of mirrors with great lighting- this is very important!

I loved the delicate smell of orange blossom that wafts from the trees growing in the courtyard as you wonder through the hotel.

In the evening the pool area is lit up by pretty tea lights twinkling, which create a romantic atmosphere.

The hotel is really peaceful and is located just inside the Medina walls, which is a great spot for exploring the old town of Marrakech
