Insider's View
To start planning your vacation to Bomani Tented Lodge
Description
Bomani Tented Lodge is situated within a 5000 acre private reserve and only 1.5 kilometers from Hwange National Park. Bomani is an intimate, exclusive campsite with only nine luxury tents and one thatched bungalow.
The area on which Bomani is built used to be a lake which, over time was submerged by the Kalahari sands from the west. Today, natural water pans are dotted throughout the plains, hence creating an ideal habitat for the bounteous wildlife living in the area.
The main lodge at Bomani overlooks the Bomani pans, creating a spectacular viewing platform for guests when they are dining or having evening sundowners as giraffe, elephant and zebra wander across the pan. Guests can choose between two locations for their luxury tent, four of the tents, and the thatched bungalow are at ground level and five of the tents are situated high up on teak platforms. All of the tents have fantastic views over the plains and all have en-suite bathrooms.
As Bomani is only 1.5 kilometers from Hwange, guests have the best of both worlds in their safari experience. Hwange is the largest national Park in Zimbabwe and is renowned for its incredible diversity of wildlife. It currently boasts more wildlife and birdlife than any other Zimbabwean National Park. The number of game also encourages the predators and Hwange is also known for its constantly increasing numbers of lion, leopard and cheetah. Bomani also has spectacular game viewing and guests can go on game drives or walking safaris straight from the lodge, all led by your own expert guide. Guests can also take part in one of the night drives on the private reserve and have the opportunity to try and spot some of the rarer creatures of the night.
Accommodation
9 tented rooms and one thatched family bungalow. Each room contains a fan and an electronic safe. Complimentary daily laundry service is also provided.
Childcare
Children under the age of 7 are only allowed at Bomani by special arrangement.
Facilities
The main lodge comprises an open plan lounge and dining area on a raised platform with fantastic views over the plains. The lounge area also has a large open fireplace for the cooler evenings and there is also an outdoor fire pit where guests can sit around in the evenings and discuss the day's adventures. There is wifi in the main area of the lodge and all tents have hot running water and electricity.
Activities
Due to Bomani's location, game drives are the main activities and guests can opt between drives in Hwange National Park or the Bomani Pans. There are also walking safaris around the Bomani Pans, straight from the lodge, these usually take place in the mornings and are all led by experienced guides. There is also a hideout at the nearby water hole where you can get up close and personal with the game that comes to drink. Pump runs are a unique, fun activity at Bomani and guests can take part in a day trip into the Hwange National Park to visit some of the waterholes and drop off supplies for the pump attendants and enjoy a game drive along the way.
