Best time to Visit
Good time to visit
Average time to visit
Miami and the Florida Keys have a year-round destination with balmy winters when temperatures average between 16°C and 30°C, but summers can be hot and humid with thunderstorms rolling in at 3pm or 4pm. The best time to visit Florida is in March and April when it is warm and sunny, before the weather begins to get too hot. Hurricanes and other less serious tropical storms can strike Florida any time in the summer up to the end of November, however the risk is greatest in August and September. August is both the rainiest and hottest month.

Itinerary
There's much more to Florida than theme parks. This flexible two-week self-drive road trip combines the magical world of Disney or Universal with the stunning beaches of Naples, the bustling cosmopolitan city of Miami and some downtime on the beautiful beaches of the Florida Keys. Lengthen or shorten the itinerary to suit your needs, have more time to take in all the theme parks of Orlando, or take a few extra days to relax on the beautiful beaches.

Days 1-5: Orlando
Land into Orlando International Airport where your Floridian adventure will commence. Pick up your hire car and begin with four nights in Orlando, or longer if you love your theme parks! The many different parks of Disney World alone could take up to a week to explore, and then there's Universal, Wet 'n' Wild and all the shows. We have included tickets to Universal Studios to get you started. Explore the Wizarding World of Harry Potter or perhaps introduce your children to their favorite super hero or cartoon character, a day at Universal Studios is jam packed full of memorable family experiences that your children will never forget.
Accommodation: Waldorf Astoria Orlando (4 nights)
-
Days 5-8: Florida
Next, head south to the coast of Naples, where powdery sands await. Spend the following three nights relaxing on the beach or enjoying a host of water sports such as paddle boarding, body boarding and kayaking. Children can socialize in the kids club where they can learn more about the resident marine life with hands on, interactive and fun filled learning, whilst you indulge in some down time or take to the magnificent golf course or tennis courts. Naples itself is filled with dining options, galleries and museums for entertainment further outside of the resort, and we have included a fun filled day out to the nearby Everglades National Park where you will explore on an airboat in search of alligators and other creatures that reside here.
Accommodation: The Ritz-Carlton Naples (3 nights)
-
Days 8-11: Miami
Take your hire car and drive East to the cosmopolitan city of Miami. Spend three nights in one of South Beach's prime locations, a cool haven of colonial beach front chic. This area allows you to enjoy both the vibrant city life with its hustle and bustle, exquisite restaurants and trendy shops, as well as long stretches of sandy beaches where you can lounge during the mid day heat. Finding an activity that holds your children’s interests is very simple in Miami with a host of kid-friendly museums and activities, to splashing around in the swimming pool or ocean.

Days 11-14: Key West
The final part of your Florida road trip takes you to the southernmost point in the United States, The Florida Keys. This part of the drive is truly breath-taking; you will follow long bridges connecting the string of tiny islands to Key West. The area is a fishing and diving paradise, and its white-washed clapboard beach houses provide the ideal base for a laid back relaxed vacation getaway. A visit to the Keys would not be complete without a visit to the home of Ernest Hemingway. Here you can peek into his life history and see the colonial villa where he composed many of his classic prose on the type writer that still sits within this National Heritage landmark and museum.
