Devon and Cornwall have some of the most stunning coastlines in Europe and on a hot summer's day can even rival the Amalfi Coast for views. While here, ensure you take in the scenery with a coastal walk along the cliffs, potter around in gorgeous old fishing ports like Clovelly and Polperro, or simply relax in one of the superb restaurants and pubs that you will find scattered throughout the countryside.

One of Cornwall’s hidden gems is the Minack Theater in Porthcurno, originally built in Roman times; it hosts an array of open air shows, with the Atlantic Ocean as a spectacular backdrop. St Michael’s Mount is also worth a visit and at low tide you can reach it by walking along one of the 48 remaining tidal causeways in England. Whist in South West England, don’t forget to sample some of the local fare, including a Cornish pasty, a traditional cream tea and some of the very fine local cider.
