April to October is best for time for visiting Peru’s Andean region and main highlights. It is typically sunny in the day and cold at night due to altitude. Heavy rains last from December to end of February with January and February being the wettest months. The Amazon is generally hot, wet and humid year round. Peru is very popular in the high season, especially during their many cultural festivals such as Inti Raymi on 24 June, so best to book well in advance.

Day 1 | Arrive in Lima Touch down in Peru’s capital and settle into Barranco, a relaxed coastal neighbourhood known for its creativity and café culture. Villa Barranco feels personal and welcoming, offering a calm base after international travel. It’s a gentle start that prioritizes comfort and ease, setting the tone for a journey designed around shared experiences, without rushing straight into sightseeing.
Day 2 | Lima: Art, Culture and the Pacific
Today showcases two contrasting sides of Lima that appeal equally to parents and teenagers. Begin with a guided exploration of Barranco, the city’s most creative district, known for its colorful streets, coastal views, and vibrant art scene. A visit to the Pedro de Osma Museum offers insight into Peru’s rich colonial history through an impressive collection of viceregal art, providing cultural depth without feeling overly formal. In the afternoon, venture into Callao, a district whose story is one of resilience and creative renewal. Once a thriving colonial port that later fell into decline, it has been transformed through the vision and dedication of artists, designers, architects, and local philanthropists. Central to this revival is the Fugaz project, a sociocultural initiative reclaiming public spaces through art. Today, the streets are alive with galleries, independent shops, restaurants, and open-air cultural events, while bold graffiti and large-scale murals define the neighbourhood’s character, attracting artists from around the world and earning comparisons to Miami’s Wynwood district. A guided walk through Callao provides first-hand insight into this remarkable transformation, shaped by local voices and lived experience. Inspired by the surrounding street art, the afternoon culminates in a hands-on graffiti session, offering a unique opportunity to engage creatively with the neighbourhood’s vibrant artistic spirit.
