The Golden Rock
Golden Rock is one of Myanmar’s most important pilgrimage sites and an iconic image of the country. The monument comprises a large gold-leaf covered boulder balanced on the edge of a cliff. It is said that the pagoda on top holds a strand of Buddha’s hair, which keeps the boulder in place. One of Myanmar’s holiest sites, you are likely to see lots of Buddhists who have come to pay homage to the monument from all over the country.
