Pakokku by Bicycle
Leave the pagodas of Bagan behind and explore the western shores of the Irrawaddy River by bicycle. There you’ll find Myitche, a typical local village with a colorful morning market, situated close to a small neighborhood where you can watch the art of making household items from cane-like rattan. The flat cycle-friendly roads around Myitche allow for ample opportunity to meet the residents of rural Myanmar, while stopping to take photos of the surrounding fields and small villages where farmers plant and harvest tobacco, cotton and chilli. Return to Bagan on a private boat back down the Irrawaddy River.
Clothes suitable for cycling, perhaps long sleeves and light trousers to protect from the sun, are advised.
