Description
The Savoy Yangon is a boutique hotel known for its old world charm and character and service with a smile. Located in the delightful area of Yangon with views of the Shwedagon Pagoda, it makes an ideal base to acquaint yourself with the local culture.
On arrival at this old colonial style hotel, you will be greeted with a refreshing drink before you check-in. The hotel is beautifully decorated with wooden floors and hand picked local artifacts dotted throughout. A stay here is rather authentic and you do feel like you are getting a taste of Burmese culture. Despite being located in a rather busy and lively part of town, as soon as you step into the hotel you are transported into an oasis of calm, away from the frenzy of the streets.
It is very close to the main attractions and shopping center, just a short taxi ride to downtown, and near to the glittering Shwedagon Pagoda; views of which can be enjoyed from several areas of the hotel. The hotel is home to Kipling's Restaurant where you can enjoy a blend of Western and Asian style cuisine while taking in views of the Pagoda. There is also a charming swimming pool with lounge area and pretty gardens, which is a lovely place to relax.
Rooms are spacious and in keeping with the colonial style of the hotel, but they do have modern amenities such as air-conditioning, TVs and incredibly comfortable beds. There is the choice of either a Deluxe Room or an Executive Suite.
Accommodation
There are 30 guest rooms and suites at the Savoy Yangon. Guests have a choice between a Deluxe Room or an Executive Suite. Deluxe Room | Deluxe Rooms measure 45 sqm and can be configured with either a double or twin bed and they have beautifully appointed bathrooms. |
Executive Suite | The suites measure 85 sqm and have a separate living area. |
Childcare
Children are welcome to come and stay at the hotel. An extra bed or cot can be added to the room to accommodate them and a babysitting service can be arranged upon request.
Facilities
Kipling's Restaurant serves a fusion of Asian and Western cuisine which can be enjoyed with views of the Shwedagon Pagoda or on the outdoor terrace overlooking the pool. Captain's Bar is renowned for its tempting cocktails and snacks, live music and live sports. It is a great place to meet with friends to enjoy some of the entertainment or to just relax in the informal atmosphere. The Bistrot is unique, as it offers traditional French bistro cuisine and a good selection of wines.
24-hour room and concierge services are available. Limousine, laundry and shoe shine services are also available. There is a business center with internet-access, scanner and printer at the property.
Activities
Yangon is the former capital of Myanmar and so has a rich culture. It is a melting pot of the traditional and contemporary. Of course at the top of most visitors' lists is the sparkling Shwedagon Pagoda and it really is rather impressive. However other attractions to explore are the 2000 year old Sule Pagoda, the famous Scott Market, the Chaukhtatgyi Reclining Buddha, as well as the parks, lakes and the lively waterfront.

I loved the Savoy. It has a wonderfully intimate feel and the sweeping wooden staircase gives it a feeling of grandeur despite its size. Lovely wooden floors and atmospheric bars & restaurants. If you're looking for colonial charm, this is the hotel to go for in Yangon.
Sarah Baxter (Staff)
This is a totally charming hotel with a laid back and friendly atmosphere, with understated character. The pool area is wonderful and the quirky bar is a great place to enjoy a few drinks. The rooms are charming and colonial in style, all enjoying their own balconies. The suites are a fantastic option for people who want to spoil themselves and are still very good value. It is in a relatively quiet part of town, so it has a lovely peaceful feel to it.
