Just a 20-minute boat ride from the town of Nyaung Shwe and near the village of Magyisin, the Resort is a perfect base from which to explore the wonders of Inle Lake and the surrounding region.

The lake's top resort offers guests a secluded retreat with 46 traditional wooden chalets, built upon stilts along the shallow waters of the shoreline. The spacious rooms were built by local craftsmen using native woods and bamboo and are decorated with Burmese silk textiles. The rooms also feature private balconies with impressive views of fields, mountains and Inle Lake.

I really liked the position of Inle Princess, and the individual villas, but I did feel that the decor was a little dated. The food here is fantastic, and it is in a very peaceful location on the lake.

With around 46 rooms over 55 acres of land, this stunningly sprawling resort, set in lush green gardens is one of my absolute favorites on Inle Lake. As soon as you arrive, either by road or boat from the lake you immediately relax in the totally tranquil surroundings, where the only sounds are from the lake and gardens. I enjoyed the most peaceful stay here and did not want to tear myself away from it. The Lake View rooms boast stunning views, best enjoyed as the sun is setting from the luxury of your deck chair. I stayed in a Pond View room, which are a great size and really well designed. If you are worried about missing out on the sunset, the restaurant terrace is the perfect place for a sundowner.

Inle Princess Resort is located in a quiet section of the river surrounded by working farms where Ox happily graze on the river banks and then plop themselves into the water for a refreshing swim when the midday heat becomes too much. The views from the resort are stunning and the sunsets that we had here were incredible with the mountains in the distance beyond the river banks. I had such a lovely evening here watching the sunset and sipping an absolutely delicious minty/lemony cocktail - amazing!
