Pygmy elephants are often spotted in the area, and the boardwalk incorporates two elephant passes. Another common local resident is the bearded pig, which often passes through the lodge's grounds. You may also see proboscis monkeys, Bornean gibbons, and maybe even orangutans. This part of the river is also a bird-watchers paradise, with over 200 documented species, including all eight species of hornbill.
