Eating out in the Côte d'Azur
The superb fresh fish and seafood from the Mediterranean dominate the local cuisine. As well as restaurants serving traditional Mediterranean food, there are numerous restaurants serving cuisine from across the world.
Alain Llorca is in Colle sur Loup and is attached to the Hotel of the same name, enjoy a true ode to contemporary Mediterranean cuisine. Meats and shellfish roasted on the grill, with amazing views.
Café de Paris is at the side of the Casino Square in Monte Carlo and is a great place for people and car watching. It is a super venue for Lunch or Dinner, with a trip to the casino next door afterwards.
Castel Plage is considered to be one of the trendier beaches along the Promenade. The restaurant is large and popular, with straightforward tables and chairs, with or without shade as you prefer and there is a relaxed area with brown basket-weave sofas and stools with soft cushions.
This restaurant is very popular and everyone piles in for lunch. People dress up a bit to eat here and many obviously came to eat only and not use the beach facilities. (Even if you have booked the sun-loungers, you are not automatically reserved a table – let them know). Great food and service at you waterside table.
Chez Juliette isn’t hidden away – it’s out there amongst all the tourist restaurants in the heart of the Old Town, just up from the Place Rosetti. The food is of the best quality and although the service can be slow, as everything is cooked to order, the atmosphere is amazing and well worth a visit.

The Cave in Tourrettes is a small cozy cave with great wine selection, tasty food and a unique atmosphere! The view is wonderful and the service very attentive.

La Fontaine is a cozy restaurant with a terrace overlooking the village’s legendary fountain. It serves Mediterranean cuisine from seasonal produce, in a contemporary bistro atmosphere.
La Mere Germaine is a lovely traditional restaurant on the quayside in Villefranche sur Mer Jean Cocteau used to eat at this local institution, which has been serving fresh fish and seafood since 1938. It is lovely just to sit on the terrace and gaze out over the harbor!
La Palme d’Or is a 2 Michelin star restaurant located in the Hotel Martinez in Cannes. The restaurant has reached the highest accolades of French cuisine with a truly international reputation. Chef Christian Sinicropi’s cuisine is highly inventive and audacious which showcases local produce and seasonality.
Le Bistro Gourmand is always full, and rightfully so! Opened in 2010 by a team with bags of enthusiasm, it has already made its mark. Everything is cooked to perfection and with undeniable expertise. Enjoy market-fresh flavors, the chef’s distinctive style and excellent value. Delightful.
Clovis in Tourrettes was recently awarded a Micheli star, the chef will delight you to discover a creative, fresh and tasty meal that will delight your taste buds. Their products are local and mostly organic with exceptional quality. Their wine list presents wonderful small and unknown vineyards all with exceptional taste.
A great little restaurant located just off a small street in the charming village of Saint Paul de Vence. The food is well priced and great quality. It is very popular so booking is highly recommended.
An old French country house located at the edge of the village of Tourrettes sur Loup. It offers great views over the valley and a glimpse of the Mediterranean. The restaurant is large and spacious with tasteful and stylish decor. The lounge is welcoming and cozy with its large chimney and original wooden beams.
The restaurant opens onto a large shaded terrace which looks directly onto the old village, with its back drop of clear blue sky or a magnificent sunset in the evening.
Located in the heart of the old part of town, on the Cours Saleya, Le Safari is a great restaurant serving pizzas, fresh fish, meat and pasta dishes. The dining room is cozy and nicely decorated with local artists’ paintings and multicolored decorative jars.
Le Vieux Moulin is a former mill which has been carefully restored. The restaurant offers traditional cuisine, both simple and sophisticated, with influences from the South of Italy.
Les Bacchanales is set in a beautiful old three storey villa, set in the middle of a large garden. The view from the terrace goes right out to the sea. The restaurant is owned and run by Michelin star chef Christophe Dufau, His produce is all sourced from within a 250km radius of the restaurant, a radius that encompasses Provence, Corsica and Piemonte.
Les Vieux Murs is a lovely restaurant near the Musee Picasso in Antibes and has divine views and excellent food and service. Appealing southern cuisine with seafood taking pride of place.
Stars and Bars at the side of the port is an amazing sports bar and restaurant and great for families, with a staffed children’s play area. The food is American and the sports memorabilia includes many Formulat 1 Items.
The Grill Room, Hotel de Paris is on the top floor, with amazing views of the seascape and the sky, as the roof slides off on summer evenings. Famous for its soufflés. Dress code applies.
