An exclusive-use Georgian mansion and country estate, at the heart of ‘Jane Austen country’
Bespoke experience, tailored around individual needs
It is very difficult to predict the weather in the United Kingdom - in the summer from May to late September is generally seen as the most pleasant time to visit. Rainfall is difficult to predict - but the UK does not receive as much as many are led to believe! In the winters, temperatures do fall, but there is nothing better than finding a remote pub with a roaring fire to sit beside after a long walk in the country.
Set amongst 4,000 acres of rolling Hampshire countryside, Farleigh Wallop is the 15th century ancestral home of the Earls of Portsmouth and a unique venue available for private hire just an hour from central London.
Farleigh Wallop’s eleven guest suites are spread throughout the stunning Georgian mansion, with elegant sash windows and high ceilings. Each individually designed, the rooms have been painstakingly curated to reflect the history of the house whilst incorporating high-spec luxury amenities and technology.
A team of in-house professionals come as part of the Farleigh Wallop experience, including a house manager, chef and housekeeper. The house will be kept to the standards of a five-star hotel, with fresh flowers and daily rooms servicing, whilst the house manager is on hand to arrange any activities. Meals are prepared by the executive chef based on personal preferences or from the seasonal menus using produce from the house’s kitchen garden. Selected house wines are included and additional drinks can be ordered in, based on prior preferences. The cinema and billiard rooms offer entertainment for guests of all ages.
Farleigh Wallop’s extensive gardens incorporate ornamental, rose, walled and kitchen gardens, alongside ancient woodland, rolling meadows and a lake at the heart of the estate. The swimming pool is heated in summer, perfect for a cooling dip, whilst the croquet lawns provide the location for a quintessentially English pastime. Clay pigeon or pheasant shooting can be arranged upon request (season dependent) by the house manager.
Made famous worldwide by the television phenomenon, Downton Abbey, Highclere Castle is home to The Earl and Countess of Carnarvon.
Hidden away down a tree-lined avenue amongst the rolling Hampshire countryside, Farleigh Wallop is still only just an hour’s drive from London. This noble country estate lies at the heart of ‘Jane Austen country’, just a short drive from Basingstoke, the nearest town.
