BC’s varied climate is influenced by latitude, elevation and ocean proximity but it’s generally warmer in the south and cooler in the north. Winters are mild in Vancouver and Victoria, with only brief snowfalls, while other regions – especially the north and the interior – are subject to freezing temperatures and heavy snow from November to March.
Tofino tends not to experience snowfall, however, is susceptible to impressive Pacific storms that are fascinating to watch from January to March
Spring and fall are often warm and pleasant but rainfall can be heavy, particularly on the coast. Summers (June to September) are mostly dry and sunny with warm temperatures on the coast typically in the low to mid 20's with hotter temperatures inland surpassing 30°C at times in July and August.
Surrounded by sweeping British Columbia scenery and perched on the slopes of Malahat Mountain, Villa Eyrie offers a feeling of being remote, without being too far removed from the charming waterfront city of Victoria, the gateway to Vancouver Island.
Escape from the hustle and bustle of Victoria's harbor at Villa Eyrie, which surrounds itself with impressive and wild mountain scenery. In the distance you can catch a glimpse of Saanich Inlet from the property's expansive grounds, and the lack of light pollution makes for amazing stargazing at night. A stay here is all about the outdoors and the raw beauty of the British Columbia scenery.
There are three separate villas which make up Villa Eyrie, comprising 38 rooms and suites, each unique in layout and finishing touches, yet equally elegant. Large windows are a staple feature across all room categories, allowing in plenty of light and maximising those views. From the upper floor rooms and the Penthouse in Villa Cielo, you can see right across the inlet.
Villa Eyrie takes its inspiration from villas found on the shores of Italy's Lake Como, and this theme continues throughout the property, with the indulgent Tuscan Spa providing the perfect spot for a treatment. In the evenings, tuck into mouthwatering Italian cuisine at the Summit Restaurant, which focuses on farm-to-table dining. The restaurant partners with local farms and vineyards to ensure that ingredients are as fresh as they come.
Despite feeling a million miles away, Villa Eyrie is also within easy reach of the local motor circuit, offering something for adrenaline junkies and motor sport enthusiasts. Along with exploring the surrounding nature, there are a number of activities all available within a short distance of the hotel, from ziplining to golf, wine tasting, hiking and whale watching.
Each of the 38 rooms and suites are unique and spread across the three villa buildings; Villa Principale, Vila Aquila and Villa Cielo. All come equipped with huge windows, comfortable beds, HDTV, Bluetooth alarm radio and a Nespresso coffee maker. Rooms on the upper floors boast the best views of the surroundings.
Following on from the hotel's Italian theme, guests will find the Tuscan spa and the Summit restaurant, both of which take heavy inspiration from Villa Eyrie's Italian roots. The Summit Restaurant boasts a menu of Italian classics, with locally sourced ingredients featuring across the board. The Driver's Lounge is a comfortable place to unwind, with plush sofas surrounding a fireplace, gorgeous 180-degree views and a vinyl player.
Villa Eyrie is surrounded by nature making it a great spot for outdoor pursuits. Enjoy hiking, biking, kayaking, whale watching and even ziplining. Nearby there are also golf courses, a motorsport circuit and vineyards.
High Tea at The Empress is a quintessential Victoria experience. The grand Fairmont Empress has been serving exquisite afternoon tea to royalty, celebrities and the public since 1908 and the chance to enjoy this sophisticated event must not be missed.
