Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe
  • On the edge of the Ngamo Plain, a spectacular wilderness

  • Incredible year-round game viewing across Hwange National Park

  • All camp staff are from the local area and the camp directly supports community projects

  • Game drives in the day and at night, walking safaris, waterhole hides for photography, conservation and community projects

A huge Camelthorn tree stands as the centrepiece of the lodge and gives it its name. It's a beautiful location on the edge of the Ngamo Plain with the wild south eastern corner of Hwange National Park waiting to be explored.

The main lodge is a large stone structure with a thatch roof. It is built around the great Camelthorn which provides shade during the hot Hwange days. Off this central structure is a dining room with large fireplaces, perfect for the chilly Hwange winter nights. To the other side is an open bar and lounge area, a raised deck is the perfect place to view wildlife in front of camp.

There are just eight en-suite stone villas. Each has a spacious bedroom and sitting area with sliding doors leading out on to a deck. The outdoor area has comfortable hammocks, perfect for a siesta.

Hwange is the largest national park in Zimbabwe. Guests explore the area with their safari guide in a number of different ways. Mornings are great for exploring on foot as the temperature is cooler, game drives head out in the mornings, afternoons and at night. The underground blind offers fantastic photographic opportunities. Besides this there are opportunities to understand Hwange and this area of Zimbabwe in greater depth. The lodge operates waterholes for the wildlife in this typically arid area, join your guide on a maintenance run. Also take the opportunity to visit some of the local communities to see more of how the area is benefiting through tourism and the safari industry.
