Located in Crested Butte, known as Colorado’s Last Great Ski Town, Scarp Ridge Lodge is the flagship property of the high-end adventure brand Eleven Experience. The building still retains its Wild West façade but inside has been transformed into a laidback homely retreat, with plenty of lounging space, five-stool bar, media room, library, and children’s playroom. To recharge after a day on the mountains, there’s an indoor saltwater pool, sauna, steam room, indoor and outdoor hot tubs and gym with elliptical machine and Pilates reformer. The town sits at an elevation of 8,885ft and the lodge has an oxygen-enriched air system for added comfort.
During the winter season (December to March), Scarp Ridge can be booked for the exclusive use of up to 14 guests, with a three-night minimum stay. The five guestrooms and one bunkroom are all individually decorated and furnished with an inviting blend of rustic charm and chic modern comforts. A medley of soft blues, greens and greys, upholstered headboards, sumptuous beds, hanging moose heads, elk horns and pressed flowers, all conspire to create a characterful oasis of calm. Ensuites are spacious, with steam showers, chrome fixtures and smart monochrome styling.
There’s an open-plan kitchen with private chef cooking made-to-order breakfasts, lunch and après and guests are free to help themselves from the organic whole food minibar. Eleven also own two private on-mountain chalets serving lunch, as well as après cocktails and snacks. Dinner is on request or guests can visit one of Crested Butte’s acclaimed restaurants. Aside from dinner, all meals and house alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are included.
As part of the Eleven Experience philosophy to deliver best-day-ever adventures, there’s a pre-arrival planning session to craft customised itineraries for each guest. Guests can enjoy one guided adventure per day, with all equipment provided. During the winter season, activities include backcountry skiing, piste skiing, cross-country skiing, showshoeing and ice climbing, but the standout activity is snowcat skiing. Each morning customised snowcats transfer guests to Irwin, known for its deep powder runs and wide-open bowls. The snowcat allows guests to enjoy around 8-10 runs per day, breaking for lunch at one of the chalets, which also host après-ski relaxation.
