Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

The best time to visit the UAE is between October and November and then February and March, when temperatures hang around the mid-20s and the humidity is under control. While December and January are generally considered the best months to go, the weather over the last couple of ‘winters’ has been unpredictable with occasional cloud and rain.

This is also high season when most of the country’s festivals, sporting events, and conferences are held, so you’ll be paying top rates for accommodation in Dubai and will need to book well in advance. The Christmas and New Year period also gets busy.

The month of Ramadan means hotel rates are heavily discounted, but while outside the resort, Ramadan is strictly adhered to, within the resorts you will notice very little difference.

High summer (July and August) means heavy discounted hotels it’s a great option for a cheap getaway but it will be very very hot and very very humid!

I love the Palace Downtown because it has quite an Arabic feel to it and is low-rise. Rooms overlook the lake and some have views of the dancing fountains. Downtown Dubai is a really dynamic area of the city, with lots of restaurants and bars that you can wander into, and of course is home to the spectacular dancing fountains. It is also the home of the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, which is epic! The service is really good and the rooms tastefully decorated. All in all, one of my top tips for Dubai!

This is by far my favourite Downtown hotel. It is perfect for a stop over or a week chilling by the pool and gives you wonderfully arabic feel, both in its decor and architecture. A low rise hotel, only floors high, and surrounded by the Bhuj Khalifa Lake, it gives you an exclusive feel that is hard to find in other areas of the city. The pool area is beautiful and a wonderful place to dine in the evenings when the pool is shut. For me this was the most authentic hotel I have experienced in Dubai and I would happily go back there.

Sara Wells (Staff)

I like the fusion style of this hotel, which draws on Bedouin themes with a modern twist. The Palace is ideally located on the edge of the Downtown lake, so a great place to watch the fountains is from its Thai restaurant, FAI, which stretches out on stilts over the water. You can easily reach the Dubai Mall or the many restaurants in the Souk Al Bahar by a short stroll around the lake.
