Insider's View

I had probably the most delicious Thai meal of my life under the stars at The Edge, the beautiful beachfront restaurant.

The hour long massage I had just before I left to fly home was so relaxing and just what I needed before a 12 hour flight.

The main pool here at the Sarojin is amongst the most beautiful I have seen, with plenty of space for everybody to spread out and be pampered by the wonderful staff.

If you are celebrating a special occasion, book the waterfall dinner where you can enjoy a private dinner for two surrounded by hundreds of candles with a waterfall backdrop!

Ann in the award winning Sarojin Spa will realign your body and soul - drift off during your massage to the sound of waves lapping on the shore and birdsong in the background

A morning run along the vast stretch of beach is very refreshing, particularly after having enjoyed the Thai Buffet the previous evening. Watch the crabs creeping back into their shells.

Borrow a bike and venture out to visit other beaches and a nearby waterfall

The luxury Sarojin is a stunning beach property designed in a contemporary Asian style on the quiet coastline of the unspoilt Thai province of Khao Lak, ideally located an hour north of Phuket on the west coast of Thailand.

The Sarojin is a stylish, boutique property located on a gorgeous white sandy beach in a national park area just 10 minutes north of Khao Lak town. It is quite a flat resort with a lovely stretching lush lawn at the centre of it. There are no buggies as everything is within walking distance. Children under the age of 10 are not allowed at The Sarojin, meaning that this multi-award winning hotel always has a calm and peaceful atmosphere, even in busy school holidays.

Designed in a contemporary Asian style to blend in with the natural local elements and landscape, each residence has a private terrace and some have private plunge pools. There are just three categories to choose from - Garden Residence, Pool Residence and a Spa Suite. Relax by the pool during the day and spend your evenings soaking in the atmosphere in one of The Sarojin's a-la-carte restaurants or tasting fine wines at the hotel’s private cellar.

The Sarojin is surrounded by five spectacular national parks as well as one of Thailand's largest natural mangrove ecosystems, hence the surrounding area is great for nature walks and bike rides. The Similan and Surin Islands Marine National Parks are less than one hour away by boat and are home to one of the top 10 dive sites in the world.

The Sarojin is a lovely little boutique resort with a sharp design aesthetic.  The contemporary Asian style sits nicely on their well-manicured and landscaped grounds.  Their staff is friendly and professional.  Both of their restaurants are quite attractive, and their beach, though shared by nearby neighbors, is a still-calm long and lovely crescent of fine sand backed by jungle green.  They offer a variety of staff led activities, including yacht tours to world renowned diving spots in the Similans.  Their embargo on under-10s insures a relaxed environment perfect for this looking for a space to truly unwind.

Sarojin staff are extremely happy, there is a strong sense of family. This has been clearly represented as rooms are named after staff who helped re build the Sarojin post Tsunami. The award winning pool lives up to all expectations. The beach being arguably just as enjoyable. The beach has many beach bars for people who want to mix up the menu more.

Arriving at the Sarojin at dusk we were blown away by the romantic beauty of everywhere lit by lamps and candles. Walking past the beautiful pool, soft muslin billowing around the pool Salas we strolled down to the beach where the Siam night dinner was in full flow. Fresh fish, Thai delicacies and curries assailed the senses - we were spoilt for choice. The beautiful Thai dancers and music melded with the sound of waves on the beach and as we walked down to the sea after dinner the moon shone a silver highway across the bay - an oasis peace and surely one of the most romantic hotels in the world.

Breakfast here is served from 6.30am until 6pm which adds extra value if you get up late and you can enjoy more of a brunch which can last you through until dinner. You can also order as many items from the a la carte menu as you want, to include sparkling wine! Food here is quite expensive but very delicious, so have a late breakfast, skip lunch and enjoy a sumptuous dinner early evening.

At the Sarojin, they have an Imagineer, a concierge who is dedicated to organising tailor-made fun and interesting excursions for guests. This is such a great idea and the Imaginner has some great suggestions such as a Thai cooking class with a difference - you will learn to cook delicious local dishes by a waterfall in the beautiful National Park, followed by a romantic private lunch and swim in the waterfall. Another idea is to go white-water rafting, with a stop for lunch on the river bank en route or taking their amazing boat, the Lady Sarojin, out for the day for sea save canoeing and snorkeling, followed by a gourmet lunch on your own private beach.

  • Phuket Old Town E-Bike Tour
