Situated on ten acres of beautiful landscaped gardens, The Saxon, is a haven of tranquillity and a peaceful escape from the bustle of city life. The interior design of the hotel is an elegant fusion of contemporary with traditional African. With a rich historical past, this all suite hotel was home to Nelson Mandela as he wrote his biography, "The Long Walk to Freedom".
The 53 luxury rooms and suites range from the executive luxury rooms to one bedroom Suites to the three Presidential Suites and the magnificent two bedroom Nelson Mandela Platinum Suite. They all have large picture bay windows that look out over the rolling gardens or pool area, with latticed shutters ensuring quiet and privacy. Each room and suite is equipped with a wide screen television, VCR and DVD player, together with state-of-the-art surround-sound music systems that cater for all tastes and preferences.
Dining can be enjoyed in the dining room, outside under the gazebo or the private dining library, decorated with watercolours of indigenous African weaponry. The award winning spa features a stunning African-Byzantine styled mosaic Rasul Chamber and offers a full range of treatments, including their signature sound therapy - an ancient Tibetan treatment that heals the body from the inside out. (Minimum age 16 yrs for the spa). There is also a well equipped fitness centre and gym with fitness professionals available at certain times of the day.
