An unforgettable journey into the beautiful, almost untouched Odzala National Park in the Republic of Congo. This itinerary offers something unique for those who feel that they have seen all that Africa has to offer.

Until recently, trips such as this have been almost off limits due to logistics. However, regular flights into Brazzaville, have opened up unique opportunities to see a wilderness virtually untouched by tourism.

Your trip starts with a flight to Charles to Gaulle, Paris before connecting onto a day flight straight to Brazzaville and catching a charter flight to Odzala-Kokoua National Park. Odzala-Kokoua is one of Africa's oldest national parks having been proclaimed by the French in 1935. It is an integral part of both the Congo Basin and the TRIDOM Transfrontier Park overlapping Gabon, Congo and Central African Republic.

Your first three nights will be spent at Ngaga Camp which is set in the heart of the rainforest and is within home range of several groups of Western Lowland Gorillas. The Western Lowland Gorillas are the most numerous and widespread of all gorilla sub species and can also be found in Cameroon, the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Equatorial Guinea. Due to research work by Dr Magda Bermejo and Germen Illera it is known that there are around seven different groups and 105 individual gorillas although the exact numbers are not known because they inhabit some of the most dense and remote rainforests in Africa.

Along with gorillas there are also forest elephant, forest buffalo, the rare bongo and an array of primates. Guided walks can be arranged each day and guests can explore the forest and go in search of these elusive animals.

After three nights at Ngaga Camp, you will be transferred to Lango Camp on the edge of the rainforest overlooking the productive Lango Bai and strategically located to ensure access to a variety of habitats, activities and wildlife. Most activities here are a combination of walking and boating treks with some driving safaris. This is a bird watcher's paradise with over 400 different recorded species of bird.

The rooms at both Ngaga and Lango are very similar and the structure was inspired by the native B'Aja Pygmy groups are raised up above the forest floor. They are very cosy and comfortable and wooden walkways connect the rooms to the main areas.

This trip may not be for everyone but for anyone with a sense of adventure and the desire to explore one of the most diverse and uncharted regions in Africa, this Congo safari combination is not to be missed.
