Beautiful colonial-style casitas and a stunning pool make Hacienda Uayamon a wonderfully unique property. Hacienda Uayamon is ideally set close to the enchanting Mayan site of Edzná, south east of Campeche on Mexico's stunning Yucatan Peninsula.
One of the most atmospheric of the haciendas hidden away in thick jungle foliage and surrounded by crumbling ruins. Has been sensitively rather than overly restored to retain the original charms of the former cattle ranch
Wonderfully romantic - ask for a table to be set up anywhere in the grounds, lit by hundreds of candles, a popular spot is by an enormous century-old ceiba tree
Situated in a ruined part of the building, the swimming pool is one of the most beautiful and original in the Yucatan
In the countryside but within easy reach of the walled colonial city of Campeche - well worth a visit
Originally dating back to the 17th century, the historic Hacienda Uayamon has been beautifully restored, carefully preserving traditional features whilst simultaneously incorporating modern comforts. Its remote spot surrounded by lush vegetation and colourful flora and fauna make it very unique. The cluster of buildings and ruins have a great charm to them particularly as they are colourful and gently crumbling and at night they are cleverly lit to provide a romantic setting.
The accommodation is made up of 12 exquisite colonial villas and suites, decorated in a warm colonial style, with elegant mahogany furniture, cool tiled floors, oversized beds and huge bathrooms with sunken baths. They also have their own private terrace area overlooking jungle gardens.
The swimming pool at Hacienda Uayamon is simply breathtaking. Surrounded by original stone walls with majestic columns rising from the water, this is one of the most dramatic settings for swimming imaginable. When not relaxing by the pool or indulging in a relaxing spa treatment guests can enjoy a delicious blend of Mexican and International cuisine served in the hotel's restaurant overlooking the gardens.
Hacienda Uayamon is also an excellent base for exploring the town of Campeche, a real colonial gem and the lesser-known but by no means less impressive Mayan site of Edzna, whose temples overlook the rainforest Campeche.
