20 Degrés Sud is described as one of the best kept secrets in Mauritius. On Pointe Malartic, in a lovely setting between Grand Baie and Pointe aux Canonniers, the hotel stands on a gorgeous turquoise lagoon in the Grand Baie, facing the islands to the north - Le Coin de Mire, Ile Ronde and Ile Plate.
Hidden behind an oak carriage entrance door, it combines excellence and luxury within an intimate, privately run establishment.
Within 20 Degrés Sud, each of the 36 rooms and suites look onto the pretty coconut grove facing the sea and have been individually designed by Belgian interior designer, Flamant. The rooms have been decorated using specially selected furnishings and antiques, creating a personal 'home from home' atmosphere with a distinct French elegance flair. The four Austral Suites are equipped with a private plunge pool, and for ultimate luxury, the ground floor suites have a large Jacuzzi each. These suites have terraces less than two metres from the water and the breathtaking views of the blue sea create an exceptional setting.
The restaurant at 20 Degrés Sud principally serves the finest in Mauritian local produce. The kitchen is directed by the talented Mauritian chef, Sanjeev Purahoo, who will prepare fresh fish dishes or, if you prefer, a six-course lobster menu on request. A fabulously romantic evening can be spent on the hotel's beautifully restored salon boat, 'M/S Lady Lisbeth' dining whilst cruising around the beautiful bay.
Activities at 20 Degrés Sud include a variety of watersports, boat excursions as well as big game fishing, which can be arranged nearby. Relax in the library with a choice of over 2000 books and selection of board games, or enjoy a game of billiards. Alternatively, guests can sit back and relax in the hotel's own mini spa, with treatments ranging from a hot stone massage to a mother of pearl body scrub.
