Things to Do in Jordan
Jordan is an archaeologist and historian’s paradise. Just outside Amman is Jerash, which has been around since the Bronze Age, and is one of Jordan’s most impressive sites. Your guide will walk you through the endless columns and ruins while educating you on everything from the mosaics to the hippodrome that have been rediscovered after centuries of being buried under sand.
Petra, a UNESCO world heritage site, is of course the crème de la crème of Jordan. There is a huge amount to see in this ancient Nabatean Capital, as you walk through the stone canyon towards the Treasury, you will feel like you have been transported to another world. For those who are more active then there are fantastic hiking routes up to the high place of sacrifice where you can gaze down on this ancient city. The Monastery is also a must visit, at the other end of Petra there are a lot of steps to get there but the views and sweet tea at the end is worth the strain. Jeep Ride in Wadi Rum

Wadi Rum offers stunning vistas, wide open spaces and fascinating natural rock structures. You will have a one-hour jeep ride here to visit the Khazali Canyon, the rock bridges, Lawrence of Arabia's house and ancient Nabataean inscriptions.
Kerak Castle

Built in 1161 by the Crusaders, Kerak is a perfect example of mediaeval castle design. The castle is a dark maze of stone-vaulted halls and passageways. Its most famous occupant was Reynald de Chatillon, who had a reputation for treachery and brutality.

Significantly smaller than the main site of Petra, Little Petra is nevertheless worth a visit, offering a taster of incredible Nabataean architecture.
Madaba

Known as the City of Mosaics, Madaba is most famous for the Church of St George which contains a superb mosaic map of the Holy Land dating from 560AD. There is an interesting visitors' centre which explains the map in more detail.
