Don’t miss the opportunity to embark on an evening food adventure in the wonderfully historic district of Gion. The tour is focused on one of Kyoto’s most celebrated food streets, Pontocho, which runs alongside the Kamogawa River. The area is full of well-preserved teahouses, narrow alleyways and historic architecture and is like stepping back in time to the days when Geisha and Samurai walked the streets. Once the sun has set, Pontocho comes alive with the delicious aroma of cooking food. Your English-speaking guide will lead you through the maze of streets, where you will sample an array of seasonal and classic dishes, as well as refreshing drinks. Along the way your guide will explain the local food culture and history of the area, helping to enrich the experience. Cuisine can include yakitori (charcoal grilled skewers), handmade noodle dishes and a tasty green tea desert.
The tour lasts 3-hours and starts at 16.30. Five food stops and two drinks are included.
