A member of the KAI franchise of deluxe boutique hot spring ryokans, KAI Tsugaru is located in the Owani Onsen district known for its wonderful hot springs. The hotel showcases traditional Japanese architecture, regional artisan craftsmanship and artwork, creating an authentic and elegant ambience and providing guests with the opportunity to immerse themselves in the local culture. Guests can choose from Western-style or Japanese-style rooms, enjoy hot spring bathing in the beautiful shared baths or private baths, dine on accomplished multi-course kaiseki dishes and enjoy daily Shamisen lute concerts.  Just 50-minutes by train from Aomori Airport, the hotel offers a free shuttle from JR Owani-Onsen Station.

There are 41 traditionally-furnished and generously-sized rooms offering both Western and Japanese-style designs. Other options include a separate living area and private outdoor hot spring bath. The KAI Signature Rooms incorporate regional craftwork displaying the Tsugaru needlework of contemporary artist Iemasa Yamabata. Standard amenities include linen Yukata robe, wrapping cloth bag, Wi-Fi, en-suite bathroom, TV, kettle, fridge, safe and hair dryer. There is an excellent onsite restaurant where traditional Japanese breakfast and multi-course kaiseki meals are served created from the freshest local ingredients. The accommodation is on a half-board basis and please note that no Western food is available. The shared hot spring baths have floor-to-ceiling windows offering glorious views of the natural scenery, while the Yuagari Lounge is your next stop where you can relax over a complimentary local drink, like burdock tea or an apple cider vinegar drink. The hotel also organises daily concerts featuring the Tsugaru Shamisen lute performed by professional musicians.
