Palazzo Avino (formerly Palazzo Sasso) was originally built as a private villa for an Italian noble family and still retains many of its original features, as well as being both family owned and run. Perched high on the cliffs some 1000 feet above the Mediterranean, the hotel makes the most of its incredible location with light and airy marble interiors and stunning vistas from almost every room.
Palazzo Avino's Michelin star restaurant, Rossellini’s, provides some of the best scenery from the panoramic terrace and serves exquisite food created by chef Giovanni Vanacore. The a la carte menu features Italian specialities paired with a handpicked regional wine list. There are also two terrace bars and even the luxurious spa looks out across the cliffs to the dazzling water below.
A boat trip along the coast or across to Capri is also highly recommended or you could head down to the hotel's private beach club to soak up the sun. Either way, a glass of Prosecco back on the terrace, watching the sun set, is the perfect way to round off the day.
When to visit
Relax on the rooftop solarium at Palazzo Avino and take a dip in one of the two whirlpools. This is the most serene place to watch the sunset with a drink in hand.
