Offering chic boutique accommodation, the Eight Hotel makes a superb base for discovering the charms of Portofino. Situated on the road leading up to the hills above the town, its quiet location imbues the property with an intimate hideaway vibe. Warm colours, tactile fabrics, abstract art, and contemporary furnishings all contribute to the air of stylish sophistication in this renovated traditional Ligurian house. The gardens are delightful, with lawns populated by hammocks and loungers and an outdoor Jacuzzi tub set beneath the shade of the chestnut trees.
The 18 spacious rooms and suites feature hardwood flooring, a striking beige, grey and primrose palette, plush beds, soft lighting and modern ensuites. Amenities include Wi-Fi, flatscreen TV with Sky, minibar, safety deposit box, bathrobe and slippers, premium bathing products and Dyson hairdryers. Some Standard and Superior Rooms feature a cosy furnished terrace. Junior Suites sleep up to two adults and two children and include a living room, while Suites sleep up to two adults and one child and feature a soft blue and terracotta colour scheme, along with a fabulous terrace area with private Jacuzzi.
A continental buffet breakfast is included in the room rate, and while there is no onsite restaurant, there is 24-hour room service and a bar menu. The hotel has a restaurant, the Eight Restaurant, 1-km away overlooking the stunning Bay of Paraggi, serving light lunches, snacks and delicious Ligurian cuisine and the hotel has a complimentary shuttle to take guests to and from Paraggi.
Along with the lovely gardens, guests have access to the Eight Spa offering massage and beauty treatments, along with a small sauna. Sister hotel, Eight Hotel Paraggi has a Beach Club, although there is a daily charge for this. Located on one of the most beautiful bays of the Italian Riviera, Portofino is a 45-minute drive from Genoa Airport, or 10-minutes from Santa Margherita Liguria Train Station. Cinque Terre, a string of historic villages on the Riviera coastline set on steep terraces, is around 90-minutes by car or train.
