Megève was first developed as a resort back in the 1920s by Noémie de Rothschild, and this Four Seasons property is a collaboration between the upmarket hotel brand and the Edmond de Rothschild Heritage brand. The overall effect is a warm and inviting fusion of traditional alpine style blended with contemporary design. Log fires, huge picture windows, copious use of natural woods, stone, and luxurious textiles, sit seamlessly alongside a statement glass reception desk which resembles a huge block of ice, modern artworks and a neutral palette enlivened by contemporary colour accents.
The 41 guestrooms and suites are spread across three traditional alpine chalets. Designed and furnished to provide guests with a relaxing retreat, the stylish accommodation includes cosy seating areas, sleek wooden floors, espresso coffee machines and tea makers, minbars, safety deposit boxes, underfloor heating in the ensuite marble bathroom, as well as deep soaking tubs. Additional amenities include down pillows and duvets, thick robes, bathroom TV, flatscreen TV, and Wi-Fi. Both Deluxe and Prestige Rooms feature a private furnished balcony with mountain views. Junior Suites can accommodate up to two adults and two children or enjoy a separate living space in either the One-Bedroom or Deluxe One-Bedroom Suites. There are also five speciality suites. Suite Rochebrune, Suite Mont d’Arbois and Suite des Aravis are designed for couples with comfortable living rooms and balconies. Sleeping up to 7 guests, Suite des Alpes, spans the entire 6th floor and includes three bedroom suites and two outdoor balconies or Suite Mont Blanc spans the entire 5th floor and includes five bedroom suites and seven balconies, for up to 10 adults and two children. The main restaurant, La Dame de Pic – Le 1920, offers indoor and outdoor dining and a Michelin-starred chef, who delights in combining new textures and flavours in a reimagining of traditional Savoyard cuisine. Temporarily closed, the restaurant reopens in December 2023. The hotel is also host to Megève’s premier Japanese restaurant, Kaito serving a fabulous fusion of Asian and French flavours. Head to Bar Edmond for a sophisticated ambience in which to enjoy a crafted cocktail, or for a relaxed coffee, the comfortable Lobby Lounge is ideal. The hotel also has a cosy Cigar Room and a Wine Cellar with over 15,000 fine wines. Both tastings and private dining can be arranged. The spa offers both massage and beauty treatments for adults, children and teens, a fitness centre and a year-round indoor-outdoor pool. There is also a Kid’s Club for organised activities during the school holidays for 3–11-year-olds, including horse-drawn carriage rides, cooking, baking, and wild plant discovery in the mountains. For those aged 11-17, the Teen Zone offers video games, home cinema and table football. Located just 10-minutes from Megève, the hotel is a 75-minute drive from Geneva Airport.
