From May to December it's the 'green season' when it rains more than the rest of the year, it can sometimes rain for 3 days in a row. However, this is rainforest and walking in the rain doesn't ruin the experience. October is the wettest month, the creeks rise and roads can be impassable. There are few people staying at Lapa Rios, though, so it’s much more intimate. January to April are the drier months, when it’s idyllic here. The busiest time of year is the second half of December, when you need to book well in advance.

  • Arenal

Leap from the cloud mountains to the Arenal Volcano Nation Park.  You will be awestruck by the unique style and location of the stunning luxury tents you will find at Nayara, luxurious yet eco-friendly base, with each tent blending into the surrounding nature has its own outdoor shower and plunge pool filled from the hot springs.  Immerse yourself in this rainforest experience, home to a great variety of birds and wildlife and an incredible sloth sanctuary.

A plethora of activities await you here.  Soar through the rainforest canopy on this thrilling zip wiring adventure in the Arenal reserve. Experience the sights and sounds of the rainforest from a bird’s-eye view, admiring the wildlife and spectacular scenery from above.

Gently paddle around Arenal Lake and soak in the spectacular views of the volcano, explore the shoreline and observe a variety of birds including herons, kingfishers and flycatchers or spend a full day hiking through the lush Arenal area, visiting invigorating waterfalls, passing along hanging bridges high above the canopy and hiking up the majestic Arenal Volcano.
