Bogota is 8800ft above sea level and therefore the temperature is never too high, although it does receive a lot of rainfall. The best time to visit Bogota is probably during the driest weather (December till March), however, completely good or bad weather is unpredictable. These months receive moderate tourist crowd.

The peak tourist season in Bogota is July and August due to its famous Bogota Carnival (August 5th & 6th). The average high temperature during this time is 19C.

The wet season in Bogota envelops the months of April, May, June and July. Although it can rain any time of the year these months receive the highest amount of rainfall.

Hotel de La Opera lies at the heart of the historic La Candelaria old quarter of Bogota, home to colourful colonial houses, beautiful churches, art galleries, characterful restaurants and narrow cobbled walkways.

Hotel de la Opera has two restaurants; El Mirador, specialising in Italian and Colombian cuisine and with unrivalled views over the roofs and belltowers of Bogota's historic quarter and La Scala, serving Mediterranean cuisine. There is also a bar and a spa set on two floors, with a heated glass tiled pool, jacuzzi, sauna, Turkish baths and massage zone.


The Hotel de la Opera is superbly situated for exploring Bogota's historical La Candelaria district, with its cobblestone streets, picturesque balconies and countless beautiful buildings dating back to the colonial and republican times. The restorations give the buildings their original, colonial glory. All guest rooms are decorated Italian style. The spacious, beautifully decorated suites are well worth a splurge.
