Casa San Agustin is a lovingly restored, luxurious boutique hotel in Colombia’s wonderful coastal city of Cartagena. Refined yet relaxed, its trio of colonial era white-washed buildings exudes the warmth of a magnificently appointed private residence.

Set by the azure waters of the Caribbean, walled Cartagena de Indias is steeped in centuries of history and surely one of Latin America’s most beautiful, vibrant, and romantic cities. Now there is a gem of a small hotel to use as a base for discovering its charms! Casa San Agustin is located within walking distance of Barrio San Diego, renowned for its restaurants, bars and chic boutiques.

From original frescoes in the library to centuries-old wood-beamed ceilings in the guest rooms, Casa San Agustín’s art and architecture evoke the city’s rich history as 17th century Spanish stronghold. Located within Cartagena’s walled Old Town, the hotel features 24 guest rooms and 6 suites, each taking its colour cue from the nearby Caribbean Sea. Shades of soft blue mix with specially commissioned furnishings and fixtures to create spaces of singular beauty and originality. Many of the hotel’s guest rooms and suites can be configured into two- or three-bedroom suites, making them ideal for friends and family travelling together.

The country’s abundance of seafood and exotic ingredients inspires the contemporary coastal Colombian cuisine of Alma, the hotel’s signature restaurant, and its charming bar and nearby alfresco courtyard – two picturesque settings for conch, ceviche and custom-crafted cocktails.

Casa San Agustin oozes luxury and style, in their stunningly styled converted monastery, where they have perfected the balance between maintaining the 17th century features and the residence's colonial past, and ensuring guests receive the very highest comfort in their rooms, with spacious, airy and fresh accommodations. The service is consistently delightful, with a warm and friendly team who's attention to detail is unmissable throughout your stay, but you never feel to aggressively looked after - it's the perfect balance of reserved attentiveness. The courtyard pool offers not only a perfect place to cool down in the Caribbean coast, but also has a fantastic atmosphere in the evenings to enjoy a sun-downer and make the most of the all day heat. The newly opened spa is the perfect fit for a hotel that champions sophisticated luxury, with this gold theme, and state of the art treatment rooms - it is definitely one of the best in the cities.

Tucked away within the old city walls, this boutique hotel was developed from a collection of original colonial houses. Some of the original ancient walls remain making the property a real mix of old and new... the rooms were beautifully designed with an eclectic mix of artefacts and art alongside luxury amenities and the whole place had a really welcoming atmosphere. Ideal for a relaxing base whilst exploring this fascinating city.

Passion by name, passion by nature—this hotel is the result of a painstaking two-year renovation by French owner Thierry Forte and his Colombian wife. The building started life as a 19th-century Colonial mansion, but Forte has transformed it into a Republican style boutique hotel with just 8 rooms. You can immediately tell that so much care has gone into this restoration, the original features are stunning—plastered walls have been uncovered, murals repaired by local artisans and traditional rugs are dotted around the tiled floors. The bedrooms are sparsely decorated, with antiques and balconies letting you soak up old Cartagena, but there's Wi-Fi if you want to stay in touch with modern life. You can get to know the city on the ground level by wandering the historic center around the hotel. Alternatively, take a bird's eye view from the rooftop pool. As it's such a small hotel, there's not really a buzzing scene, but it's a nice place for a cocktail, a sit-down and a dip. There's no restaurant or spa, but you're in the prettiest part of the city, so get lost down a winding alleyway and feast with the locals.
