Lençóis is a beautifully preserved 19th century colonial town. The city is a National Historical monument and serves as a base to explore several wild trails of the National Park of Chapada Diamantina. There is an abundance of endemic plants, waterfalls, ancient caves with impressive stalagmite and stalactite formations, rivers with natural swimming pools, canyons, and superb trekking and walking opportunities through beautiful landscapes full of forested valleys and table-top mountains. The park covers 84,000 square kilometres.
