There are two very distinct seasons at the Victoria Falls, the wet/flood season and the dry season. These seasons do not reflect the quantity of rain, rather reflect the volume of flow of the Zambezi River. From around March through to July the river surges in size as the rainfall in Angola and Zambia from months before swells the current. The falls are at their most dramatic at this time of year with huge columns of spray. The nights are cold and the days warm at this time of year. From around September to January the water levels drop, the falls are more accessible and views are clearer as the flow can drop in volume by 90%. It is worth noting that the rains come from late October through to February, this combined with high heat, 40 Celsius or more, in October and November, causes high levels of humidity.

Waterberry Zambezi Lodge is a charming lodge set in tranquil gardens on the banks of the Zambezi River, just 30 minutes from Victoria Falls. The seven thatched cottages are dotted around the grounds and the lodge is a perfect way to start or end a safari.
Set on the banks of the Zambezi, with beautiful views across to the Zimbabwean game reserve on the opposite bank, Waterberry Zambezi Lodge's location is secluded, relaxed and the perfect setting for a wonderful holiday, enjoying all that Livingstone and it's surroundings have to offer as well as the amazing Victoria Falls.
The bedrooms are set in charming thatched cottages, spaced around sweeping lawns, some of them right on the riverbank, others overlooking the tranquil dam. Each cottage has it's own terrace for relaxing on or enjoying private dinners and inside the spacious interiors are open to the high thatch roof and contain comfortable beds sure to give you a good nights sleep, sweeping mosquito nets and overhead fans and air conditioning. There are also two family units with adjoining bedrooms.
The main part of the lodge overlooks the Zambezi and the game park on the other side, there are magnificent views from the main upstairs lounge. Meals are served in the alfresco dining area looking out to the river. There is a large swimming pool set amongst beautiful landscaped lawns and also a small shallow pool at one end, making it perfect for children.
There is a beautiful floating pontoon on the river, a wonderful spot to enjoy sundowners, or from which to fish. Boats are also always available, either for cruising up and down the river, looking for wildlife and birds, or to take you off for fantastic island picnics, or fishing trips.
There is a huge amount to do at Waterberry Lodge, for couples and families alike, from visits to Victoria Falls, to cruises or fishing trips on the Zambezi, or visits to Livingstone Town or the local village. Nature walks and birding are a regular part of the day and the lodge also offers photography workshops.
When walking through Victoria Falls town you may experience hassle from street sellers, normally offering old Zimbabwean currency and small wood carvings. Our advice is to say you are not shopping, and if you would like to buy souvenirs you should go to the official craft market.

Waterberry Lodge is situated on a tranquil patch of the Zambezi River just 30km up from the Falls. Its ideal location means you are within easy access of the Falls and all the activities on offer but you can escape back to the peace and quiet of the lodge after a days adventures. This four star lodge offers five star service and the staff are all absolutely charming and nothing is too much trouble. Our first evening here we went for a peaceful sunset cruise where we drifted over to the Zimbabwean side to watch the elephants drinking from the river and warthogs cooling off in the mud. The bird life here is astounding and I challenge anyone not to come away with an interest in birds after a few nights here. The rooms are very comfortable and simply decorated and there is a large pool and lots of space around the lodge making in an ideal option for families.
