Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

In general, the best time to travel to Thailand and Indochina is from November to April, as this is when there is the least rain and the temperatures are warm but pleasant, although it can start to get much hotter from the end of March onwards. The rainy season can be unpredictable, but usually runs from May to October. The beginning and end of the rainy season tend to see short, heavy showers, with the wettest months being July to September.

  1. Fly to Bangkok

  2. Days 1-3: Bangkok

Start your adventure in Bangkok, the bustling capital of Thailand. Staying at the charming and secluded boutique hotel Ariyasom Villa offering a more local and intimate feel, a wonderful retreat from the buzz of Bangkok.  There is so much to see and do whilst you are there, depending on your interests you can spend your time visiting glittering temples, cruising along the canals off the Chao Phraya, or sampling mouth-watering street food at one of the many markets.

    Accommodation: Ariyasom Villa (2 nights)

  3. Days 3-6: Luang Prabang

From the bustle of Bangkok, head to the serene streets of Luang Prabang, reached by a short international flight of just under two hours.  A unique experience staying at Satri House, the former childhood villa of Prince Souphanavong, full of antiques, character and old-world charm.

Luang Prabang sits in a beautiful valley surrounded by stunning green mountains. Take some time to explore the cultural highlights of the town, which include the historic Royal Palace and fascinating Traditional Arts & Ethnology Center, as well as a number of impressive temples.  Venture out into the countryside to visit the breath-taking Kuang Si Waterfalls, or take a private boat up the Mekong to see the mysterious Pak Ou Caves.

    Accommodation: Satri House (3 nights)

  4. Days 6-8: Hanoi, Vietnam

From Laos you will dive straight into life in Hanoi, one of the most charming capital cities in Southeast Asia. Take a private tour of the city's historic sites with an expert guide, and venture into the vibrant Older Quarter to soak up the atmosphere, sounds and smells.  La Siesta Hotel and Spa offers a calm and welcoming retreat from the hustle and bustle of Hanoi, to relax and rejuvenate at the end of the day.

Accommodation: La Siesta Classic Ma May (2 nights)

  5. Days 8-10: Hoi An

Once in Danang, enjoy a 40-minute drive through the beautiful countryside to Hoi An. This historic town, cut through with canals, has plenty to offer whilst you are here. Take evening strolls along the river and through winding lantern-lit streets, and there are some excellent restaurants and bars to enjoy along the way. We can recommend a fantastic place to take part in a traditional Vietnamese cooking class whilst you are here. Hoi An is also surrounded by quintessential, serene countryside, and so why not venture out for a day to explore rural villages by bicycle, or travel through the lush hills in a jeep.

Accommodation: Boutique Hoi An (2 nights)

  6. Days 10-13: Siem Reap & Angkor Wat, Cambodia

It is time for your taste of Cambodia with a three-night stay in Siem Reap.  Staying at the Jaya House River Park, a peaceful hideaway on the banks of the Siem Reap River, one of the first plastic free hotels in Cambodia.

Siem Reap is the gateway to the Angkor Archaeological Park, where you can visit the iconic Angkor Wat as well as the other extraordinary temples such as the famous 'Tomb Raider' temple Ta Phrom and the mesmerizing Bayon Temple at Angkor Thom.  Siem Reap is also a good base for exploring rural Cambodia. Take a boat trip on Tonle Sap Lake, which is the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia, and home to several floating villages. Or if you prefer to stay on dry land, why not enjoy an adventure on the back of a Vespa, journeying through the villages around Siem Reap.

The Sarojin is a wonderful place to relax and unwind after your busy itinerary. However there are plenty of activities on offer, including boat trips and cooking classes.
