Description
The JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa is a whimsical yet luxurious resort, located on a long stretch of white sand on Vietnam's Phu Quoc Island. With plenty of facilities and dining options, the resort has all you need for an indulgent stay.
The creation of renowned architect Bill Bensley, the JW Marriott boasts all of the elements of a luxurious beach resort, but with a quirky design that brings a distinct uniqueness to the property. The design is intended to be that of a renovated university, specifically a colonial-era campus set up by French naturalist Jean-Baptiste Lamarck. That this story is in fact fictional is by-the-by, as what it has allowed is the creation of a fanciful and fun resort, which will be particularly appealing to families looking for something smart but engaging for both adults and children.
There are 244 rooms, suites and villas, spread out across a number of buildings. The design is extravagant but elegant, combining colonial and art-deco styles. The rooms and suites are spacious and light, with high ceilings and large windows facing across the gardens, pools and out to the bay. The bathrooms are also generously sized, with large bathtubs and a separate shower. The rooms have an extra guest loo, and the suites have two full bathrooms. The suites also have a large separate living room.
The villas are lavish and luxurious. The one and three bedroom villas are located at the back of the resort, with views towards the lush jungle. With separate bedrooms and living rooms, they also have private gardens with huge swimming pools - perfect for couples or families who prefer their privacy. The Lamark Villas are on the beachfront and have four bedrooms.
The JW Marriott has three swimming pools, including a children's pool and adults only pool. There is also an excellent Kids Club. The resort sits on a long stretch of white sandy beach, and it is possible to visit a reef 200 meters away for some decent snorkeling. There are also complimentary daily activities, an 'Alice in Wonderland'-themed spa, and a decent gym.
There are plenty of dining choices to suit every palette. Tempus Fujit is the main restaurant, serving an extensive buffet breakfast and then an international a la carte menu for lunch and dinner. Red Rum is the resort's beachside grill and the Pink Pearl offers fine dining. French & Co. is a more casual cafe-style set up, and the Department of Chemistry Bar provides a stylish setting for a cocktail or two.
