Santa Barbara is a year-round destination. There are few winter storms, no blisteringly hot days, only about 18 inches (46 cm) of rain a year- no off season, really. In late spring and early summer “May Gray” and “June Gloom” can set in. In the late summer, daytime temperatures can climb into the 80sºF, with cool evenings.

The Ritz Carlton Bacara is located on one of California’s most spectacular stretches of Pacific coast between the ocean and the Santa Ynez Mountains. With 78 acres of oceanfront property, including two miles of natural beach often frequented by surfers.
The Ritz Carlton Bacara, formerly Bacara Resort and Spa, comprises low-storey buildings, terraced to the sea and connected by meandering garden paths, flower-filled courtyards, restful fountains and red-tiled roofs making it the perfect place to enjoy the leisurely pace and warm embrace of the California lifestyle. The climate is Mediterranean, mild and sunny and crystal-clear night’s ideal for stargazing.
With 358 guest rooms that reflect the serenity of Bacara’s classic coastal setting, using the colors of sea, sand and sky, along with natural materials, overstuffed furnishings, and Frette linens and robes. The bathrooms feature deep soaking tubs, marble showers and Fresh bath products.
The Ritz Carlton Bacara offers fine dining in four restaurants, including Angel Oak which offers fine dining with breathtaking ocean views. Guests can unwind at the four-diamond Spa at Bacara, a 42,000-square-foot spa and fitness center. World-class golf is available at three nearby courses and guests can spend their days enjoying the beach, three zero-edge swimming pools, four lighted tennis courts, and adjacent hiking trails.
The hotel is around 20 minutes drive of Santa Barbara’s many attractions, including wineries, ocean excursions, historic sightseeing and excellent boutique shopping and is only a few minutes drive from Pacific Highway 1 and its magnificent coastal drive.
The hotel offers 358 rooms and suites laid out in small buildings throughout the property. Rooms offer either pretty garden views or views out to the ocean. Some offer spectacular Pacific ocean views. There are a number of room categories, some of which interconnect for families. The one bedroom suites are also very spacious and offer a separate lounge with sofa bed for up to 2 children as well as a large bedroom and bathroom, some also offer a second bathroom.
All guest rooms feature high-speed Internet access, flat screen televisions, state-of-art video entertainment systems, DVD players (the resort provides an extensive library of films), and a mini bar. The resort also provides 24-hour in-room dining and concierge services, as well as in-room spa treatments.
Children are made very welcome at The Ritz Carlton Bacara and the resort lends itself to a family vacation. Suite and interconnecting room accommodation is available for families looking for more space.
The resort offers the Monarch's Kids Club on selected weekend days throughout the summer months. Designed for children aged 5-12 years of age, there is an emphasis on fun activities making the most of Bacara's natural environment. Children can attend for a half or full day and there is also a Saturday night program as well. The club is payable locally with a half day from $85 per child and a full day including lunch from $135 per child. There is a discount for multiple children from the same family attending.
The Ritz Carlton Bacara is designed so once you arrive you need never venture out during your stay unless you wish to. From the relaxed lobby bar and restaurant through to the casual coffee shop, fantastic for grabbing a morning drink or lunchtime snack through to the on site tasting room and spa cafe, there is plenty to excite the taste buds. The Bistro is particularly popular with its ocean views. For something even more special, Angel Oak is Bacara's cliff top fine dining restaurant where reservations are highly recommended. With sensational ocean views and an extensive wine cellar of over 12000 bottles, it is the place to enjoy exemplary cuisine.
The main pool surrounded by shaded terraces can be found down by the beach where guests can while away the hours. A sand pit with buckets and spades can be found by the pool for children. The beach is long and perfect for beachcombing and walking. Depending on weather it is also a great spot to surf or on calm days, take out a kayak or paddle board.
The beach club offers an excellent selection of water sports facilities and set just behind the beach club are four Har-Tru clay tennis courts available for guest use.
The spa offers a dreamy escape with it's own secluded saline pool and sun terraces as well as a European style rooftop terrace. With locally and European inspired treatments and 36 treatment rooms it is an oasis to escape to and be totally pampered, it also has it's own cafe.
The beach club offers great opportunities for getting out on the water with surf boards, stand up paddle boards, boogie boards and kayaks all available to hire. Tuition is also available on request.
For those who prefer to stay on dry land, there are a number of hiking trails nearby and guided hikes are possible. The resort also rents out both road and mountain bikes with helmets to adults and children and biking tours are also available.
For tennis enthusiasts, the tennis facility offers four courts as well as tennis clinics as well as personal tuition for both adults and children. Racquets are available to hire and night play is also possible.
There are three 18-hole championship gold courses within easy reach, the Sandpiper, Glen Annie and Ranch San Marcos. Enjoy exciting play in the foothills of Santa Barbara. Tuition is available on request.
