Pedal Lanna
The countryside around Chiang Mai is lush and green, dotted with local shrines, swathed in rice paddies and encased by dramatic mountains. What better way to make the most of the fresh air than exploring by bicycle?
Area
Northern Thailand
Head north of Chiang Mai to beyond the Mae Rim valley. Your adventure will take place along and around the Ping River, mainly on flat roads with gentle hills.
The Ping River was once the main route for the transportation of teak wood, running 569 kilometers from northern Thailand before joining the mighty Chao Phraya to the north of Bangkok. The river remains the lifeblood of the area, providing agricultural sustenance to the surrounding rice paddies, orchards, coffee plantations and flower gardens.
The route is around 25-40 kilometers depending on timing. Lunch is included - we recommend keeping it local and enjoying some Khao Soi (curry noodles). You will also have an English-speaking host, water, snacks, soft drinks and cool towels. You will have well-maintained, high performance bikes with front suspension, helmets, gloves and a water bottle.
