The Anantara is a stunning luxury hotel set high up in the lush hills of Thailand's border overlooking Myanmar and Laos, in the heart of the Golden Triangle. Explore three countries, enjoy a walk with elephants, or simply relax and take in the view.
Located on the borders of Laos and Myanmar, the Anantara Golden Triangle is a stunning place to stay whilst exploring this fascinating historical, cultural and adventurous region. The resort beautifully fuses Thai architecture and décor with international standards and all rooms are furnished with oversized terrazzo bathtubs, Thai textiles, teak furnishings and artwork from the diverse local cultures.
Dining at the Anantara Golden Triangle is a culinary journey through centuries of Lanna culture and Old World European favorites, and both restaurants have dramatic views over the valley and its surrounding landscape. The Elephant Bar and Opium Terrace serves casual meals and fabulous cocktails. Alternatively, seek privacy and peace and choose the Anantara 'dining by design' program, allowing you to eat whatever you like in a location embracing the region's glorious serene landscape.
The Anantara's signature Chiang Rai spa comprises teak wood suites perched high above the Thai and Burmese jungle and uses ancient Thai remedies as well as pioneering treatments from across the globe. After your treatment relax in one of the private open air terrazzo tubs with views across the valley.
The Anantara Golden Triangle prides itself on its private elephant camp and this is a wonderful place to experience these great animals first-hand by walking with them through the bamboo jungle, helping bathe them or even spend a full day learning how to master the art of being a mahout.
There is an abundance of other activities on offer during your stay at the Anantara Golden Triangle, including visits to Chiang Rai and to the neighboring countries by longtail boat, yoga, mountain biking, tree planting, trekking and a wonderful Thai cookery school where the chef personally takes you to visit the local market. Alternatively enjoy the magnificent free form infinity-edged swimming pool looking down over the tree canopy towards the Mekong River.
The Discovery Package allows you to enjoy all-inclusive benefits with one experience each day. You can choose from a spa treatment, elephant activity, Thai cooking class or cultural tour options. This package also means you can dine at one of the two restaurants, enjoy a select range of unlimited beverages, in-room mini bar, internet and airport transfers.
All rooms at the Anantara are spacious with crisp Thai silks, teakwood floors, large terrazzo tubs and balconies. The Deluxe Rooms are Thai in style and the balconies complete with sofas look out over the infinity pool or gardens. The Deluxe Three Country View Rooms have palatial balcony views over the hills of Myanmar, Laos and Thailand and these rooms have upgraded facilities such as flat screen TVs and iPod docking stations. Suites are available with huge balconies and sumptuous daybeds. All rooms and suites feature spacious balconies, king beds, down duvets, bathrobes and spectacular views in all directions.
Children are very welcome at the Anantara Golden Triangle and will love all of the adventure the area has to offer, especially the elephant camp. Children under 12 can share their parents' room for free but there are no formal facilities except for babysitting which is available on request.
The Anantara has three very different restaurants and bars which serve everything from Thai curries to home made fresh pasta and meals can also be arranged wherever you like around the resort whether in the rice paddies, by the river or even with the elephants. There is a fabulous holistic spa, squash court, gym, free form infinity edged swimming pool overlooking the tree canopy, elephant camp and cookery school.
Activities available at the Anantara Golden Triangle include mountain biking, long tail boat rides, cooking classes, yoga classes and tree planting.

Get into the heart of the Thai countryside by staying in beautiful rural Chiang Rai. Every room in this hotel has wonderful views of the three countries, Myanmar, Laos and Thailand, and you'll also see the Elephants enjoying the grounds. The staff here are incredible and will ensure you have the best possible stay.

My stay here will be very memorable as it so different from any other place mostly because of its location. All the main facilities and rooms overlook a valley filled with rice fields, jungle like vegetation, elephants and a river as well as looking over to Burma and Laos. A few days spent here are well worth it, I particularly enjoyed the elephant mahout experience! The all-inclusive option is also a great way to make the most of the hotel, make sure you spend at least one evening at the Italian restaurant where the prawn linguine I enjoyed was sublime. There is a great pool area where you can spend some time in between activities.

Spending the day with the elephants at the Anantara is something I will never forget for the rest of my life. I chose to do the 1-day mahout training course and if you are staying at the Anatara, I would say that it is a must. You go down to the elephant camp early in the morning and spend a few hours learning the basic mahout commands and how to drive your elephant. The real thrill is in the afternoon, when you can put your skills into practice and take your elephant for a trek through the jungle. Bathing the elephant is also really fun although be warned that you will get wet! This truly is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and I would highly recommend it for everyone from families to honeymooners.
