Average time to visit
The best time to visit Chiang Rai is between October and April. The monsoon season traditionally begins in May and lasts through to October, with July to September usually being the time of heaviest rain. The hottest month is April, when temperatures can hit the 40s. The cooler months of November to January will be a good time to travel if you don't like the heat, with the average day temperature slightly below 30°C.

Get up close and personal with the lovely rescued elephants and be a mahout for a day, travel along the Mekong river in a traditional long-tailed boat with views of Myanmar and Laos or simply relax and rejuvenate amongst the peaceful nature.

Fly into Chiangmai

Days 1-3: Chiang Mai
Arrive into Chiangmai and transfer to your hotel for a two night stay exploring the best of Chiangmai. Discover the culturally rich and enchanting city of Chiangmai in a different way as you zip around in a Segway. Transfer privately to the starting point of the tour before you will join in a tour and head to the main attractions including the temples Wat Phra Singh, Wat Pan Tao as well the Tapae Gate and Three Kings Gate.
The next day, have an early start to witness the daily alms collection as the robed monks shuffle silently down the streets and collect the offerings from the local residents. Afterwards enjoy the spiritual trail of the city and visit the tranquil temple Wat Umong, which features a network of underground tunnels. This evening, enjoy a traditional Northern Thai cuisine, the Khantoke, accompanied by folk dance and show throughout.

Days 3-6: Golden Triangle
Transfer by private car to Golden Triangle lying at the border of Thailand, Myanmar and Laos and overlooking the Mekong River. Travel down the Mekong river on a traditional long-tail boat as you watch the local villagers going about their lives along the river banks.
