Best time to Visit
Good time to visit
Average time to visit
Tanzania is a large country, with a varied climate. Generally, the long rains run from March to May - the temperature is warm and the humidity is high. June to October is the long dry season, and the short rains are in November and December, much lighter than the long rains. January and February are again dry (the short dry season) so this is another good time to visit. The wildebeest migration happens most of year in Tanzania's Serengeti, and is linked to the rainfall.
We design each itinerary around you, so this suggested itinerary is a starting point that we can tweak or transform into something completely bespoke to you. Call us on 858 345 1761 to start planning your vacation.

Days 1-3: Lake Manyara National Park
Arrive into Kilimanjaro Airport and connect for Lake Manyara. You will be met by at the airstrip by your &Beyond guide and transferred through the stunning Lake Manyara National Park to your luxury lodge. There will be time for some light refreshments before heading out on an afternoon game drive in search of the impressive fauna and flora this diverse park has on offer. Two nights will be spent here at the Lake Manyara Tree Lodge, where you will explore a wealth of habitats, from swamps and a tranquil lake to the mountain escarpment of the Great Rift Valley. The lodge is located in the park’s remote south western region, allowing for leisurely tracking of the famous tree-climbing lions and unimpeded viewing of the flocks of pelicans, flamingos, and the buffalo cooling in the soda lake.

Days 3-5: Ngorongoro Crater
You will then be driven to the Ngorongoro Crater, once a huge active volcano. Its collapse has formed a natural sanctuary in which there are an estimated 30,000 animals including black rhino. This unique conservation area offers some of East Africa’s most concentrated game viewing and the Crater Lodge mirrors the dramatic scenery with its opulence. Perched on the edge of the crater rim you can enjoy spectacular views, particularly in the early morning as clouds form over the caldera. A private butler will take care of your every whim and desire during your stay, from arranging pre-dinner drinks to drawing you a bubble bath after a long day out game viewing.

The annual wildebeest migration is the major event in the national park, moving around the ecosystem between the Serengeti and Kenya's Masai Mara throughout the year. Serengeti Under Canvas shadows the movements of the great migration, ensuring an unforgettable experience, as close as possible to the action. Although you're staying in a mobile tented camp, every comfort has been considered, down to Persian rugs, chandeliers and even a flush loo. Here you will be treated to some incredible game viewing opportunities on twice daily game drives.
