Average time to visit
The best time to visit Burma is during the dry season from November to April. At this time the warm and sunny days are ideal for sightseeing throughout the country. The temperatures start to rise in March and May to September is best avoided as this is the rainy season when sightseeing can become difficult.
To start planning your vacation to Mandalay Hill Resort
Mandalay Hill Resort lies at the foot of Mandalay Hill with a panoramic view of a myriad of pagodas and faces the distinctive architecture of the Royal Palace and its beautiful moat.
Mandalay Hill Resort is a great place from which to enjoy the city of Mandalay. Its towering height means that it offers guests wonderful views of the pagodas, Royal Palace and its moat and of course the hill itself - all the iconic scenes of the area.
You walk into the lobby area which is large and modern - the hotel seems to glow with lots of wood features and low level lighting creating a calm atmosphere. The outdoor pool and gardens are beautiful with lots of attention to detail. The staff here are true to their burmese culture as they are discreet, smiley and very helpful.
The outdoor Kinsana restaurant and theater is a fun way to spend your evening with a beautifully presented food buffet and dining tables set amongst the palm trees – a rather serene setting. However, if you want an evening of fine dining, Yadanabon Café can accommodate you.
There is a variety of rooms and suites on offer at Mandalay Hill Resort. The villas located in the spa area are particularly special as they offer more privacy, however they are without the views! Each category has something to offer whether it be extra space or a desired view.

Children are welcome to come and stay at Mandalay Hill Resort. There is a children's play area and pool which they will enjoy. Babysitting can also be arranged upon request.
There are a few different types of eateries to satisfy your tastes buds during your stay. Kinsana Garden Theater is open in the evening for dinner and you can enjoy an international BBQ buffet whilst being entertained by a culture show of sorts. Kipling's Lounge is found on the ground floor and serves a selection of drinks and you if you want a small bite to eat you could opt for a few of their yummy tapas dishes. There is also a live band playing from 8pm. Ming's Chinese restaurant offers as the name suggests, Chinese cuisine and it is open in the evening. Yadanabon Café is more of a fine dining restaurant which offers a la carte and an international buffet throughout the day.
The resort also has a spa and fitness center on site for those of you who are seeking some pampering or want to keep up your fitness routine. There is of course a swimming pool and a children's pool too.
The resort is well located to explore Mandalay and its environs. The old Royal Palace is within walking distance as is Shwenandaw Monastery and Kuthodaw Pagoda which contains the World's Largest Book, over 700 marble slabs inscribed with the entire teaching of Buddha.

Mandalay Hill Resort is well located at the foot of Mandalay Hill, so has great views from some of the rooms. It is a large hotel and a little dated in style but is one of the best options in Mandalay. The Corner Deluxe Rooms are spacious and have two huge windows, so you can really make the most of the views. If you want to splash out, the Spa Villas are stunning. They are set away from the hotel and you get a spa treatment a day included. Kipling's Bar is a buzzy place for an evening drink as there is a live band and good cocktail list. The swimming pool here is fantastic - a great place for a dip after a day exploring in the sunshine.

While not the most modern or stylish of hotels, the Mandalay Hill Resort is a very well-located property in the center of the city, at the foot of Mandalay Hill and within easy reach of the city's main attractions. It is comfortable and clean, and has good facilities.

The Mandalay Hill is one of the largest hotels, so is a safe bet in some respects as it caters for an international market. With 208 rooms and a number of facilities at your disposal, including a good size pool and a gym, it serves a great purpose for your stay in Mandalay. The dcor is fairly lavish and ornate, and they have gone heavy on the gold and brown, but once you get used to this, it is an incredible comfortable and easy stay. The pool area is very chilled and you can easily wile away a few hours soaking up the sun.

The real draw for me for the Mandalay Hill Resort is the location which makes it really easy to access all the highlights in and around Mandalay which are stunning. Mandalay is the handicraft center of Myanmar so there are lots of little local workshops to visit, which I really enjoyed. The other serious plus point is the pool which is enormous and a saviour with the tropical heat.
