Best time to Visit
Good time to visit
Average time to visit
The best time to visit Burma is during the dry season from November to April. At this time the warm and sunny days are ideal for sightseeing throughout the country. The temperatures start to rise in March, and May to September is best avoided as this is the rainy season when sightseeing can become difficult.

Description
The Aureum @ Governors Residence is located in the old Burmese colonial hill station of Maymyo, now known as Pyin Oo Lwin. It features the restored British Governor’s Residence and range of comfortable bungalows in the grounds.
The Aureum Pyin Oo Lwin’s main highlight is the restored Governor’s Residence which features five rooms which are generally booked for groups of friends. It has its own dining room, bar and indoor swimming pool. It is an exact replica of the building which was bombed by the Japanese in the Second World War and it is very much like stepping back in time.
Most guests opt for the Deluxe Bungalows which are closer to the main road, leading into the center of town. We will always request rooms set back a little as the road can be somewhat noisy. The bungalows are very large with a open sitting area and small sit-outs. In all truth, they are a little dated, but you are usually only in Pyin Oo Lyin for a night so it is more than suitable to see the destination. They feature TVs, WiFi (which is a little intermittent), separate bath and shower.
There is a central restaurant and bar which offers a range of international and Asian dishes. The main reason to visit Pyin Oo Lwin is to see the fantastic Botanical Garden, maybe take a horse and carriage ride around the colonial suburbs and as a gateway to the trekking area of Hsipaw, which can be accessed by a superb train ride the following day.
Accommodation
The Deluxe Rooms at the Aureum feature bathrooms with separate bath and shower, TVs, WiFi, balconies, hair dryers, mini bar, safe deposit box and a sitting area with sofa. The Presidential Suite has its own swimming pool and living room. There are also five rooms located in the Governer's Residence.
Facilities
The Aureum features a centrally located restaurant and bar.
Reviews
Clare Monro (Staff)
Aureum Resort @ Governor's Residence doesn't really have that much charm or atmosphere, but it's the best accommodation option in Maymyo/Pyin Oo Lwin. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean (worth bearing in mind there is a step up to the bed area, and a step down into the bathroom). Some people may wish to go for the actual Governor's house if staying in a family group, where the rooms are enormous and it's quite cool - but a little bizarre at the same time!
