-
Feel the ground shake as you witness the raw excitement of wildebeest tearing across the Mara’s rivers, desperate to evade the hidden crocodiles that await. A game drive at Mara Nyika, no matter the time of year, immerses the senses in the enchantment of Africa.
This small and intimate camp is located on the western side of the game-rich Naboisho Conservancy, bordering the Maasai Mara. Mara Nyika means ‘Large Plains, or Great Plains’ and is ideally situated overlooking the plains of the Mara. With just four canvas tented rooms, guests will experience an exclusive and private stay. The rooms are nestled under the canopy of umbrella thorn trees with walkways connecting each room. Offering authenticity, the camp inspires exploration and adventure with interiors of neutral tones, rustic wooden furniture and opulent antiques and furnishings while maintaining Great Plains ethos of conservation and low impact tourism.
The unique and prime location of Mara Nyika allows guests to explore the 50,000-acre Naboisho Conservancy, the second largest in the greater Mara region. An experienced and passionate guide is on hand to find the Big Five, and much more; from hyena, zebra and giraffe, to wildebeest, cheetah and plenty of plains game. Each guest staying at Mara Nyika supports the community and landowners that have come together to form the Naboisho Conservancy. The conservancy model combines the conservation of nature and cultural heritage, tourism and the enhancement of livelihoods for the local communities.
