Take a trip in a hot air balloon over the Mara
Soak up the wilderness with drinks and canapés around the camp fire
Watch the annual wildebeest migration in the Maasai Mara usually between July and October
Situated in the remote southern section of the Mara, Sala's Camp is a tranquil, intimate little camp with stunning views over the Sand River looking towards the Serengeti of Tanzania. The environment is incredibly game-rich, with guests able to game view practically from their tents. It is a perfect base from which to explore the mighty Maasai Mara reserve, and an excellent spot to see the migration in as it passes through – from July to September it is particularly rewarding as the herds move back and forth between the Serengeti and the Mara in search of lush grasses. Expect some very exciting river crossings, and great predator sightings as they follow the herds in search of a meal.
The camp itself is tented, with just seven luxury tents and a very comfortable main area, each tent offering lovely views of the river or the surrounding forest. Tents are based on the traditional safari style, but have glass fronts and are contemporary and comfortable inside, each offering their own private plunge pool. Activities focus on morning and afternoon game drives with your expert Maasai guide. Also on offer are balloon rides over the Mara, an incredible way to view the wildlife and get a bird’s eye view of the action!
Sala's Camp prides itself on superb home-cooked meals, and a high level of service and hospitality – meals can be taken outside under the stars, and the camp also organizes bush dinners in the riverbed, a wonderful experience.
