As the sun sets over the Ganges, the sacred Dasaswamedh Ghat comes alive. A group of young pandits, dressed in saffron robes, step onto a raised platform where their puja plates are set. The ceremony begins with the deep sound of a conch shell, followed by the sweet scent of incense drifting through the air.
In perfect rhythm with the chanting of hymns and the clang of cymbals, the priests wave large flaming lamps in sweeping circles, their golden light reflecting on the river. The atmosphere is electric yet deeply spiritual, with hundreds of pilgrims and visitors gathered to watch.
You will have a close-up view of this unforgettable ritual – a beautiful blend of devotion, tradition, and theater that captures the essence of Varanasi.
