Fann Mountains
Part of the Pamir-Alay mountain range in western Tajikistan, the beautiful Fann Mountains offer some of the most pristine trekking terrain in the world. Glassy alpine lakes nestle into narrow plateaus fed by glaciers thousands of feet above and many of the peaks soar to over 5,000 meters. The Fann Mountains are also home to the jewel in Tajikistan’s crown, the azure blue Lake Iskanderkul.
A wonderland for hikers and climbers, the Fann Mountains are a remote mountain system in the far west of Tajikistan. An adventure through the stunning plateaus and rocky passes of the Fanns will reward you with spectacular scenery and a warm welcome from the remote villagers that make these rocky mountaintops their home. Composed of around 100 peaks, the highest being Chimtarga at 5,489 meters, glittering glacial lakes are abundant here and include the stunning Iskanderkul, named after Alexander the Great, and the icy waters of Lake Kulikalon.
