First Nations Canoe with T'ashii Paddle
Canoe in traditional cedar canoes to Meares Island and learn about First Nations history, knowledge and stories with Tsimka, the co-owner of the school and a Tla-o-qui-aht woman who grew up in her traditional territory, Tofino.

On the Meares Island Canoe experience, paddle as a group to the Big Tree Trial on Meares Island in a First Nations dugout Canoe. Join a Nuu-chah-nulth guide and learn about First Nations culture, history, and the local environment. This hand craft dugout canoe is the same traditional form of transport that has been used on the west coast of Vancouver Island for thousands of years, making it a special way to experience local aboriginal history and rich culture. Canoe tours depart daily (March – October) from Jamie’s Whaling Station in downtown Tofino (606 Campbell St.). Pre-booking in the summer is highly recommended.
