The Top End of the Northern Territory doesn't ease you in gently. This is raw, ancient country - saltwater flats, monsoon forest and floodplains that have barely changed in thousands of years - and spending time here with Andrew Uccles is about as close to the real thing as it gets.
Known from Australian Survivor and Netflix's Born to be Wild, Andrew brings deep, practical knowledge of this landscape - tracking wild boar through the bush, reading animal signs, and teaching the outback survival techniques that this country demands rather than merely inspires. The skills you pick up here are grounded in the same traditions that have sustained people in this environment for generations.
Finniss River Station provides the setting: a remote working property in the NT Top End, where the wildlife is present on its own terms. Spot native species in their natural habitats, and come face to face with giant crocodiles.
Nights are spent under a vast northern sky in a swag camp in one of the station's most remote corners. Chef-prepared meals take the edge off the wilderness, but only just enough. The stars, the sounds and the sheer scale of the landscape do the rest.
