In the southern half of Australia the seasons are the opposite of those in the northern hemisphere: spring comes in September, summer is from December to February, autumn runs from March to May, and winter begins in June.
Sydney is great to visit year round but if you want warm sun and dry weather it is best to try between November and April. Their winter months of May - October usually have mild weather so you can still enjoy all the sights.

The Langham is an absolute gem of a hotel and one of my favorites in Sydney. Expect exceptional service and truly beautiful interiors in soft macaroon colors. There's an air of chic, almost-Parisian style about the decor and the atmosphere is elegant and peaceful, without being stuffy or uncomfortable. The rooms and suites are spacious and comfortable, and there are lots of little touches including tea and petit fours waiting for you on arrival.
The location is in a peaceful side street towards the back of The Rocks, just a ten minute stroll away from Circular Quay. Whilst there aren't water or harbor views from many of the rooms (although some overlook Darling Harbour to the back of the hotel), this really is the only downside to the Langham that I could find. And the beautiful rooms, suites and dining areas more than make up for this, as does the service here. I would highly recommend it.
